NIU annual BFA Show displays student art

NIU students receiving BFA degrees within the NIU School of Art and Design have their art on display for the annual BFA Show.

The NIU BFA Show opened May 1 and runs through Monday in the Jack Olson Gallery, located in the Jack Arends Hall, 330 Gilbert Drive. Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free to attend.

“It’s (the BFA Show) a really great opportunity for people to see the amazing talent that is here at the art school and a really great way for students to meet people in the community and kind of network and to show their work,” said Janelle O’Malley, recruitment coordinator within the NIU School of Art and Design.

O’Malley said there’s a variety of different types and mediums of art included at the show.

There will be a reception for the BFA Show from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday in the Jack Olson Gallery and there will be refreshments available, O’Malley said.

“All of the artists are there and their families, so it’s a great opportunity to talk to them, see their work, it’s kind of a little party celebration,” O’Malley said.
